MAUI AND THE SUN

WE ARE LEARNING TO RETELL A STORY:
MAUI AND THE SUN

Once upon a time, a long time ago Maui and his family were upset because the sun was moving too fast. The days were too short to get their chores done. Maui told his brothers to go and get lots and lots of flax to make a net to catch he sun. They went to where the sun was sleeping and waited.

Maui and his brothers felt the sun coming nearer. Maui ordered his brothers to pull in the ropes. Maui got his axe and attacked the sun. The sun stopped and Maui said “I will stop if you go slowly.” The sun agreed to go slower.

Maui and his brothers let the sun go. The sun went slower and the villagers had more time to do their work.

MAUI AND THE SUN

WE ARE LEARNING TO RETELL A STORY:
MAUI AND THE SUN

Maui and his brothers and the villagers didn’t get enough time to do their chores because of the sun going too fast. Maui said he was going to catch the sun but his brothers said he couldn’t. Maui told the villagers to weave a net so he could catch the sun.

Maui and his brothers went to find the sun. They could feel the sun coming towards them. The men pulled the sun down towards them and then Maui attacked the sun. The sun asked Maui why he was trying to catch him. “So you will go slowly,” said Maui.

Maui let the sun go and everyone was proud of him. Now the sun went slower and they all had time to do their chores.
