EYE SPY AT THE SUTER ART GALLERY

The Suter Art Gallery Trip

On Thursday 14th of May Room 14 and the parents walked to the Suter Art Gallery to see the exhibition called ‘Eye Spy’. ‘Eye Spy’ is artwork with letters in the wall and sentences with alliteration to help us spot the objects. In my group Esther told the parents to take us kids around the room to look around at the artwork. We had to make up sentences for the rest of the group. Some of the questions were really hard. One of our questions I picked was about the mast of a boat. It took ages for Ana to spot it. My group did Quanah’s question and Keely’s questions. It was really hard.

Just before we left we went into another room. Lots of dead animals were in there. I was tired walking back to school. I had fun!

WHAT DO YOU THINK THIS PAINTING IS MADE OF?

To the Suter Art Gallery

On Thursday 14th May 2009 Room 14 went to the Suter Art Gallery. Some parents came to help us. Toby and Aiden and I saw lots of beautiful paintings. They had sentences describing the paintings. I liked all of the pictures but the one I liked the best was the one with all of the rain in it.

Room 14 had to make up questions and answer other people’s questions. After that we went to the animal exhibition. In the animal exhibition there was a real polar bear and a crocodile skin bag and an elephant’s foot.

I liked the Suter. It was lots of fun!

TUATARA TRUST

Our Inquiry topic this term is ‘Sharing the Planet’.

Kahikatea syndicate are investigating endangered species. Our rich task is:
Select an endangered ‘living thing’ that exists in NZ and design a habitat in which it could thrive.

Room 14 are researching tuatara to find out what sort of habitat they could thrive in. We were very lucky to have Louisa Paul from Spinyback Tuatara Trust come and talk to us. She told us a lot about the tuatara and we even got to hold a tuatara skin. Pretty cool!

WE ARE LEARNING TO WRITE A RECOUNT:

A CRAZY HOLIDAY

In my crazy holiday we went to England. Our first miracle trip was going to the Natural History Museum. It is my favourite place in the world.

We all saw Big Ben. It was a huge clock tower. We went on the London Eye. It was a giant spinning wheel and it was fun! It was my favourite part. I went with Sam and Dad. It was the best trip ever. We saw a woodpecker in England.

On the plane back to New Zealand we played our PSPs. My favourite game is Dragonball Z. I can’t wait to go back to England.

HOLIDAY RECOUNTS

AN EXCITING HOLIDAY

In the holidays my family and I went to Picton. We own a backpackers there that we stayed in, it’s called Sequoia Lodge. We went to Picton in a bus and in Picton we went to the theme park.

After that trip we drove to Kaikoura with our cousins. We stayed in a house opposite the beach. On the last night we toasted marshmallows by the fire. In Kaikoura my cousins and I went to the beach and made a big hut made out of white stones.

After that we went to Golden Bay. We went to the movies to see Bolt. It was quite a scary movie.

I loved my holiday. I hope we have a great holiday next year.
